Official Kids Piano Starter Challenge Rules

Official Rules

1. Sponsor

The Kids Piano Starter Challenge (the “Challenge”) is sponsored and administered by Exact-Notes, LLC, 1051 Park St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, USA (“Sponsor”). Questions may be sent to [email protected].

2. Eligibility

• The adult entrant must be a parent or legal guardian who has reached the age of majority where they live and who enters on behalf of a child younger than 18.
• The Challenge is designed primarily for children ages 5–12, but a child of any age under 18 may participate.
• No geographic limitation is intended; the Challenge is void where prohibited or where Sponsor cannot lawfully administer the award.
• Employees, contractors, judges, and immediate family or household members of Exact-Notes, LLC are not eligible to win.

3. Weekly Entry Period and Deadline

An “Entry Week” runs from Saturday at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time through Friday at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. A family that registers during an Entry Week has until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the Friday immediately after that Entry Week ends to upload its eligible performance submission. Sponsor’s records determine the applicable registration time and deadline.

The Challenge is intended to continue in recurring weekly rounds until Sponsor announces an end date. Sponsor may change terms for future rounds by posting revised rules, but changes will not reduce an award already earned under a completed round except where required by law.

4. How to Enter

1. A parent or legal guardian registers for the free Kids Piano Starter Challenge using the official registration page.
2. The child completes at least part of the Challenge.
3. The parent or guardian uploads at least one video in the designated private Facebook group that clearly shows the child performing an identifiable Challenge piece before the applicable deadline.

Parents may upload one performance at a time throughout the Challenge, a final performance at the end, or both. All timely videos for one child are reviewed together as one weekly entry portfolio. Multiple uploads can demonstrate greater participation and completion, but do not create separate random “chances” to win. Facebook likes, reactions, comments, shares, tags, or follower counts are not judging factors and are never required.

5. Judging and Merit Criteria

This is a skill-based promotion. Eligible entries will be evaluated by Sponsor’s qualified judge or judging panel, including an independent judge where required by applicable rules. At a minimum, judging will consider:

• Correctness and accuracy: how accurately the student performs the notes, rhythm, and directions appropriate to the Challenge arrangement and the student’s level;
• Participation and completion: how many Challenge pieces or meaningful portions the student performs and the level of demonstrated engagement; and
• Overall performance quality: preparation, steadiness, musical presentation, and the quality of the performance relative to the student’s age and experience.

Sponsor may also recognize clearly announced weekly categories such as fast completion, creativity, presentation, improvement, perseverance, or playful performance. If entries are otherwise tied, correctness will be considered first, followed by the number of pieces performed, then overall performance quality. The judges’ good-faith decisions are final, subject to applicable law.

6. Weekly Winners and Awards

At least one eligible winner will be selected each week when at least one eligible entry is received for that judging pool. Sponsor may select additional winners, award additional scholarships, or recognize category winners.

The minimum guaranteed weekly award is one free month of Kids Piano virtual-course access. At the time these rules were published, the approximate retail value of that minimum award was US$29; if the regular one-month price increases, the minimum value will be the then-current one-month retail price.

Additional awards may include, but are not limited to, Kids Piano books; access to Kids Piano, Youth Favorites, Masterworks, Minecraft, Star Wars, Disney Favorites, or other Exact Notes courses; partial or full scholarships toward live classes, virtual-course memberships, private lessons, or other products and services available through exact-notes.com; physical instruments; and other announced prizes.

A winner may not transfer an award. No cash alternative or winner-requested substitution is guaranteed. Sponsor may substitute an award at its discretion with one of equal or greater value if availability, shipping, legal, scheduling, or program circumstances require it. Physical awards may be subject to shipping availability. Scholarships and access awards must be used under the terms stated in the winner’s notice and have no cash value. Winners are responsible for any taxes or charges imposed by their jurisdiction.

7. Winner Notification

Winners will be notified using the email address the parent entered when registering for the Challenge and may also be announced in the private Facebook group. The parent must respond within seven calendar days and may be asked to confirm eligibility, identity, parental authority, and acceptance of an award and release. If a selected winner cannot be reached, is ineligible, declines the award, or does not respond on time, Sponsor may select the next highest-ranked eligible entry.
