Advanced Studies is not a collection of unrelated high-level services. The yearlong one-to-one relationship provides the continuity needed to connect performance, analysis, composition, historical context, disciplined inquiry, and original research.
One-to-one musical coaching
Develop repertoire, technique, interpretation, practice methods, and performance projects through sustained private guidance.
Collaborative research and scholarship
Observe patterns, test hypotheses, refine interpretations, and develop work that can contribute to serious understanding of Bach, Beethoven, and symbolic composition.
The expected preparation sequence
Enter Zach’s world through the flagship courses first
Most Advanced Studies candidates should already have completed FĂĽr Elise, completed Moonlight Sonata when available, and made substantial progress through the Well-Tempered Clavier / Masterworks pathway.
1. FĂĽr Elise
The focused 10-week entry point into complete performance study and score-based musical symbolism.
2. Moonlight Sonata
A planned 10-week course in performance, atmosphere, historical context, and symbolic interpretation.
3. Masterworks / WTC
The long-form foundation in Bach, counterpoint, composition, musical language, and disciplined inquiry.

Admission is based on preparation, goals, project fit, and availability. The first step is a substantive conversation about prior work, the proposed year of study, and whether Advanced Studies is the right next level.
This pathway is not intended as a first introduction to the method. Begin with the flagship Classical Piano courses when additional preparation is needed.
